This shelving is made from white oak barn beams and steel poles that were originally supports for a chainlink fence. The barn beams are colored with a soy-based stain to match existing woodwork in the residence, and finished with our favorite hardwax oil. Dark tannin-stained nail holes and heavy figuring are much in evidence. The steel and hardware are finished with a slightly metallic water-based paint to reference architectural details found throughout the house. Photographs by Dylan Vitone.
